Weathered Spring Sign

I started off with a 7x9 inch piece of wood I found in the scrap bin at Home Depot.

I painted it Americana Baby Blue.

Then I watered down some white paint and brushed that over the top.

I used the negative of some SPRING vinyl I ordered from Utah Vinyl and put that on my board.

Then I painted the lettering white.

Carefully removed the vinyl once the paint had dried.

I gave it a good sanding - everywhere.

Added a bit of stain to the whole thing.

Then tied on some ivory ribbon.

I love how it turned out.  Perfectly weathered.  Now it's sitting pretty on my mantel, which I will show you tomorrow.  

We had a perfect spring day playing in the sun at the park. Now for baths to get all that sand out of the boys' hair.

5 Minute Candle Update

I loved the gray and yellow paper I used yesterday for my specimen art, so I decided it would work perfect on my candles too.

Here is what I started with.

I cut two 5-inch strips and wrapped them around the candles using some double sided tape.  I also added a one inch strip of the back side of the paper, which was yellow.

I used two paper flowers and a brad.

Stacked the flowers together and then secured them with a brad.

Attached them to my paper wrapped candles with a little double sided tape and I was done.  Super simple.

Gerber Daisy Specimen Art

I found the cutest Gerber Daisy stickers while I was at Michael's last week. And since they were 40% off I snagged a package thinking I could use them to make some cute specimen art.  I used some scrapbook paper, scalloped square punch, double sided tape and some stickers.

The back side of this scrapbook paper was yellow, so I punched out 10 squares.

I also wanted to add the word "Spring." So I found this rub on in my scrapbook stuff and put that on some of the yellow scrapbook paper too.
 

Then I used my double sided tape to attach the squares to my 8x10 piece of cardstock.

Added my "Spring" to the bottom corner.

And then it was ready for the frame.

I just love how it turned out - the yellows and grays look perfect for spring.

Spring Has Sprung

Here's a quick and very simple project. I found this lovely yellow plate at Target last week on clearance. I figured it would be perfect for some spring vinyl.

I ordered some vinyl from Jill over at Utah Vinyl. This saying was $4.25 in case you want to order one yourself. This will fit in a 7x7 space.

I added the vinyl to the plate and within 30 seconds I was done.

I just love how it turned out.

Birdie Vignette

Isn't this nest just the cutest thing? I found it at Tai Pan for $3.97 with the eggs included. I thought it looked so real. I also found this cute stone bird there as well.


I decided these would go perfect with my pedestal birdhouse.


Add some greenery and a cute picture of son #2 and there ya go.


Of course my little helper had to get in there and make sure those eggs weren't real - luckily they are glued in and can't be carried away by little hands.


Bring on the spring and the birdies, but not until after 7:00 a.m. please. I like to get as much sleep as possible.
