Before and After Kitchen Sink

This year for Christmas we decided it was time to take the plunge and get a new sink. For one, our faucet was super loose and leaking. Second, our garbage disposal had a crack in it and after fixing it a couple times unsuccessfully I was ready to rip it out. And third, this sink is the original and our house is 21 years old - it was ready to be updated. So let me just show you a few before pictures so you know what I'm talking about.

You're thinking - that doesn't look too bad. Well let me bring you a little closer.

Still doesn't look half bad. Just wait.

Here is a good one of that ugly chrome faucet with hard water, a chip in the sink and the cream color. Isn't it beautiful? Let me show you a real close up.

Just gross right? It's hard water and if I scrub too hard the chrome will just come off. So needless to say we're way over due replacing everything.

Well the weekend before Thanksgiving we went to Lowe's and we picked out what we wanted and had it installed the second week of December. Now we're just loving it. I must say that when it comes to plumbing we decided to let the professionals handle this one, so we just paid Lowe's to install it. The installer was done in about 2 hours which probably would have taken us 8. I just love the after.

Can I just say that it looks a million times better. We went with stainless steel everything and a Delta high arc faucet. It's so much easier to fill up large pots and pans. Love it. We also had the disposal replaced with a 3/4 horsepower one. So much nicer and quieter.

Even my oldest son was loving the new faucet and decided every time he needed to wash his hands after using the bathroom he would get some soap in the bathroom and then come downstairs with soap all over his hands to wash them in our new sink. After about 4 days of this process, I asked him if that was enough and to just use the bathroom sink to wash his hands. He was pretty cute about it all.

So let me just show you again just because it's fun.

I don't think I'm the only one out there.

  1. You made me laugh, because to some this wouldn't be so exciting, but I get where you are coming from. My sink is pretty bad too, but my entire kitchen needs to be renovated, so I am playing the waiting game...That new sink of yours is gorgeous! Enjoy it!

  2. Hi!
I saw your idea about putting a toilet paper roll in as a filler and was directed to your page. I see this is an older post, but what the heck! Cute things! I'm such a bad DIY girl. I have great ideas but the execution is never what I had planned in my head! Anyway, just something I use in my shower that works for hard water on my glass shower doors and faucets - 1 part vinegar and 1 part purified water, with a dash of Dawn detergent. I actually just saw something on Pinterest that was 1 part vinegar 1 part Dawn, without any water. Thought I'd share so you don't have to scrub your beautiful new sink down to a nub in the future! haha!
