Grateful Harvest Mantel

Okay, I finally have my mantel the way I like it, since I was able to get my banner done.  At least we'll be able to enjoy it for a couple days.

I used the same paper pack for my Harvest blocks and my banner.

I left up my awesome lanterns I scored at Lowes.  The charger I made last year, the turkey I got at Tai Pan a couple years ago and the corn candles I got from my sister-in-law several years ago.

On the other side, I have another Tai Pan turkey and a metal tin holding some fake greenery.

I think the banner helps pull it all together.  I just love how it turned out.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Grateful Pennant Banner

I have been wanting to make a banner for my Thanksgiving mantel and today I finally got it done - even though it's less than a week away. I created an outline of my letters in Word.

I cut them out and used them as a template to trace onto some dark brown cardstock.

Then to make the pennants, I folded a piece of paper in half and cut it at an angle to create a triangle.

I used the template to cut out my pennants out of patterned scrapbook paper.

I attached the letters with some double sided tape.  I punched a hole in both sides of my pennant and ran some twine through the holes to hang it up.

Then it was ready to display.  I just love how it turned out.

Turkey

Last month while I was picking up some more pumpkins at The Wood Connection, they had these adorable turkeys on display as well.  I just couldn't resist.  I think I love Thanksgiving decorations more than Halloween.  Pumpkins and turkeys seem to always catch my eye.

So here is what the kit looked like.

So while we were in Park City last week on vacation, I decided to get my turkey put together.  I painted it and added some scrapbook paper for the feathers.  I forgot my glue gun, so I just used some Mod Podge to attach the pieces together. Here it is.

Love it!!  So are you a turkey lover too?

Harvest

One day while I was shopping at The Wood Connection, I came across these adorable Harvest letters.

I painted the letters cream color, cut out some scrapbook paper and Mod Podged it on the letters.

Then for a little extra touch, I added a few embellishments, rhinestones on the corn, flowers, ribbon, buttons and string.

I love how they turned out.  Perfect for my Harvest mantel.

As I pulled out my Thanksgiving decor, I noticed I have 3 sets of "Harvest" blocks - I don't really need that many, or have a place for them either.  Anyone need a set?

I made this set last year - if you're interested just follow along and leave me a comment.

Deadline is Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. (MST).  That way I can get it in the mail on Thursday to the lucky winner in time for Thanksgiving.

Since they're wood blocks, I'll only ship within the U.S.

Back From Vacation

So did you think I dropped off a cliff or something? I know it's been ages since I've posted anything at all. But we've been busy vacationing so I decided to give the blogging a break. Here's where we went.

ORLANDO

Magic Kingdom

Hollywood Studios

Epcot

Legoland (which just opened)

And Animal Kingdom

It was a busy fun-packed vacation but we all had a blast and loved going on all the rides and meeting some of our favorite characters.  We also got to spend time with my parents who drove down from Virginia to meet up with us.

Then last week, we spent the week here.

Park City - Canyons.

It was more of a staycation, but the boys loved going swimming everyday.  The last day it even snowed on us, but luckily the indoor/outdoor pool was heated and we enjoyed every minute of it.  We had a great week.

Now we're done with vacations for the year.  Back to work and school and crafting . . . right!!
