Simple Co-worker or Neighbor Gift Idea - Santa

I mentioned for Thanksgiving we were spending the day with my husband's family.  Well, I thought it would be fun to make a holiday craft while we were visiting and stuffing our faces with turkey.

I saw this idea on Pintrest of course, but the original source was from Splitcoaststampers.  You could use this idea to cover a candy bar, popcorn, hot chocolate, gift card, DVD, or whatever else you may want to gift this Christmas season.

Here are the supplies I used that I picked up from Michael's.

I decided to wrap some microwave popcorn.  Now this isn't just any ole microwave popcorn, it's MY FAVORITE microwave popcorn.  Orville's Tender White - have you tried it?  Delish!!  The whole pop up bowl thing is just brilliant.

Anyway, back to my craft.  Wrap the red paper and secure with double sided tape.  Add a strip of black paper, a gold square and then another black square on top of that.  Add three gems or buttons and then hot glue a piece of boa to the top and bottom.  When you get done, you'll have a big feathery mess to clean up too.

Then just make a whole slew of them since they're so quick and easy.

I plan to make these for my co-workers this year.  Such a fun idea.

Thanksgiving Mantel

So since Thanksgiving is like tomorrow - I thought I better show you my Thanksgiving mantel.  We have been enjoying our turkey decor for the last few weeks.  I didn't make anything new this year, but just changed things up a bit here and there.

I made the charger a couple years ago, and my turkey I found at Robert's when they were around.  The awesome lanterns I picked up at Lowe's last year for dirt cheap.

I made my Harvest letters last year, which I picked up from The Wood Connection.  My pennant banner was a quick project too.

My mom made these pilgrims for me years ago and the corn candles were a gift.  I love how it all came together.

Pretty soon it will be time to break out the Christmas decor, but for now I'm enjoying my Thanksgiving mantel.  This month has been such a great time to reflect on how blessed we truly are.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I'll be spending the day with my husband's extended family.  It should be great fun.  My boys will enjoy spending time with their cousins too.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

A White Cupboard

Another piece of furniture that we have had forever, is this white pantry cupboard.

I actually bought this while I was going to college just so I could have more storage.  It's been a great cupboard through the years, and I love that I can close the doors and hide more storage.  For now, it's used to store all the baby blankets, extra diapers and wipes, and DVD players for road trips.

On top, I added a framed lace picture of the London LDS Temple, the photo I used of Logan for his birth announcement, a set of small drawers that I redid a couple years ago, a cute little red wagon I received as a gift (for my oldest son), and a small framed picture of mom and dad.

I love the pop of red from the wagon and scrapbook paper I added behind Logan's photo.

I only have a couple small projects to finish up in this room and I'll be done!!

I've been working like mad the last few days on Christmas gifts.  I can't wait to share those soon too.

Baby Subway Art

One of the gifts I received after Logan was born, was this adorable subway art from Tiffany.  Just look how adorable.

I love the splash of red!  I just leaned it on my plant stand that got a fresh coat of white spray paint.

We had this stand before we had kids and I just kept it in the baby's room since it was white like the other funiture.  At one point in time, there were plants on it, but to avoid spilling dirt everywhere, we did away with them for now.

I added his 6 month picture right above the plaque.

Then I added a few accessories to the stand that I already had.  I just love that subway art though.

The Leaves are Falling

Yesterday we had beautiful windy weather that blew a lot of the leaves out of the trees in our back yard.  I was able to capture a few photos of my boys playing in the leaves.

Logan (8 months) didn't get to sit in the leaves for very long - he kept trying to eat them.

My cute 8 year old.

My spunky 3 year old making a weird face.

They had fun playing in the leaves.  But it was short lived because today it's snowing!!!

I love fall time.  And in celebration of leaves falling, I made this charger last year which I have displayed again this year.  If you want to make your own, you can find the chargers at Walmart ($3.00) and the vinyl you can order from Utah Vinyl.

Happy Fall!!

Something for the Walls - Baby Room

Okay, now back to the baby room.  I had some wall decor hanging up, but I wanted to change it up a bit.  This is what we had on the wall.

In all different sports.  So first I cut off the ties.

I had some left over beadboard from my bookshelf redo that I had cut into 12x12 pieces.

Using some carpet tacks,

I mounted the wall hangings onto the beadboard in all four corners.

Using my very technical and professional method, I attached the ties to the back of the beadboard.

Then they were ready to hang.

I like the added beadboard for a little more detail.  It was a small change, but well worth it.

I have two hanging over the changing table and three above the crib.

I also changed up the picture in the frame above the book case since I last showed you as well.

 I love those chubby checks.

And I just have to show you one more picture because he's just too cute.
