Easter Clearance - Target

Look at all this loot.

Today I stopped by Target to see what the Easter clearance situation was. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was marked down to 75% off. Sweet. Don't mind if I do.

I found a cute egg wreath ($1.25), a large platter ($1.25), and a dinner plate ($.49).  The platter and plate are plastic, but will make great serving dishes or use to display with an easel.

The table cloth was only $1.25.  I even found some matching beverages napkins for $.49 too.

The candy was 50% off and freezes well.  I didn't get any chocolate bunnies, but you could even melt them down and make things with them.

I was excited to pick up a few of these activity kits, pencils and coloring activity book for only $.50 each.  Fun projects to do with the kiddos.

I also picked up some note pads, a book, paper cups and plates, and a 2 pk of finger tip towels.

They also had quite a bit of baking goods - mixes, frosting and sprinkles if you need to stock up.  Also tons of Easter grass, baskets and plastic eggs were still there.

So have you picked up any Easter clearance items yet this year?

A New Frame

I bought this picture frame on Thanksgiving Day at Michael's - that's right as in 5 months ago.  I just loved the bright white and the beadboard and the price was right too.  But for some reason, it just sat and sat and sat until this weekend.  What can I say, I'm a little slow deciding where to put it and what picture to put in it.

This is a big frame - it can hold a 11x14 picture but with the beadboard it's more like a 15 x 18.  I thought the perfect spot would be above the bookcase in my son's room.

These two small shelves have been hanging in this spot for years.  So I figured they were ready for a new home.

I had a 11x14 picture developed at Costco for $2.99.  I can easily change out the photograph from time to time as well.

I took this picture last summer while we were in Seattle.

I think this frame fills the space much better now.  I'm so glad to have this frame out of my craft area too, where it's been sitting for the last 5 months.

So do you have any projects that have been sitting around for 5 or 6 months, or am I the only one?

A Winner . . .

Remember last week when I showed you my Dollar Tree frame that was sitting empty for more than a month?

Well I got busy and filled it one evening - and even made another for one of you.

Well the lucky winner is . . .  (and since I don't know how to copy and paste the picture, you'll just have to take my word for it.)

Lovely....count me in, I would love the other one! Sounds like you are a busy lady, hopefully you can get some R&R over the long weekend. Happy Spring & Easter. Diane

Congrats Diane, I'll be sending you an email.

Hope you all had a nice Easter Weekend!!

Chocolate Passion Bowl

We had a weekend packed with lots of fun Easter activities and getting together with family.  Saturday morning we got up early and went to the Easter Egg Hunt at the Fitness Center nearby.  They boys definitely got their fair share of loot.

We also got to see the Easter bunny while we were there too.

For lunch, we got together with family and had a great pot luck.  My aunt made the most adorable veggie rabbit made from Rhodes bread (2 loaves).  She saw it on Studio 5 here.  Just perfect for an Easter get together.

See the opening in the tummy - just perfect for the dip.

I made a Chocolate Passion Bowl by Kraftfoods.  Don't you think strawberries . . .

And chocolate fudge brownies . . .

 Go perfect together?
I added the rest of the cool whip and some shaved chocolate at the party.

Now you can make one yourself - I used strawberries instead of raspberries this time, but I have made it was raspberries before and it's just as yummy.

What You Need
2 pkg. (3.9 oz. each) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding

3 cups cold milk
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
1 baked 9-inch square brownie layer, cooled, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 5-1/2 cups)
2 cups fresh raspberries

Make It
BEAT pudding mixes and milk with whisk 2 min. Stir in 1 cup COOL WHIP.
PLACE half the brownies in 2-qt. bowl; cover with layers of half each of the pudding, remaining COOL WHIP and berries. Repeat.

Fat Quarter Pillow Update

Back in August I made this cute fat quarter pillow.  I added some flowers, but I didn't know what I was doing really.

And over the months they started looking a little ragged.  So I decided to change them up a bit.  I made some cute little rosettes for my spring frame the other day.

So I decided to make some larger ones for my pillow.

A few quick stitches and they were attached to the pillow.  Much better now.

Now hopefully these will last a little longer.  It doesn't help when the boys decided to have pillow fights and jump and play on my cute pillow.

Easter Treat Bags

I came across the most adorable topper for a bag over at Anything But Perfect. I decided it would be fun to make a few for my friends.  Here is what ya need: the printable, double sided tape, stapler, snack size zip lock bags, candy, paper cutter and some cardstock - I used gray.

The printable has a dotted line where to cut in half.

I cut the cardstock just slightly larger than the printable and then used some double sided tape to put them together.  Fold in half and crease.

Have your assistant help you fill the bags with candy.  He did a great job.  Such a good helper when he wants to be.

See they are the perfect size to fit over a snack size zip lock bag.

Then I used my stapler through all the layers to seal it all together.

Then just make a ton, because they're so adorable.

I also got some freezer jam made today.  Wahoo!!

I had today off work, since my oldest is out for spring break this week and thought we better enjoy at least one day together hanging out.  Back to work tomorrow though.

Working 9 to 5

For over a week now, I have been working full time to help fill in for a co-worker who is out on maternity leave. Kudos to you moms out there that work full time, keep a family feed and dressed - in clean clothes, your house in tip top shape, find time to blog, make fun crafts and tackle so many home decor projects. I survived the first week, but it did take it's toll and now I have a cold to boot, but it's getting much better.

So needless to say I haven't had much time for anything - including blogging.  Once we finally get home - usually after 6:00, make some dinner, clean up, do reading time, baths, get in a couple minutes of play time, it's time for bed and time to start the process all over again.  I am usually on the computer all day at work, who wants to come home and jump on the computer again - know what I mean?

I do have some exciting news - I entered my Gerber Daisy Specimen Art into The CSI Project's weekly link party last week.

I was Amanda's Pick. So that totally made my day.

I love those daisies.

Ever since I took down my St. Patrick's Day decor my little Dollar Tree frame has been sitting empty.  So I decided no matter how late it was, I was going to do something with that frame.  Isn't it pathetic.

Can you believe it's been like that for more than a month now?  See, no kidding, I took this tonight.

So I pulled out some of my scrapbook supplies - I keep coming back to this paper combo.

I cut a 3.5 x 3.5 out of the gray flower paper.

Then cut out a 2.5 x 2.5 of the yellow.

Add my Gerber Daisy sticker.

And then use some alphabet stickers to spell out SPRING.

It still needed a little something, so I used my black pen and made some dashes around the edge.

I used a little double sided tape to attach the two pieces of paper together.

And then put it in my frame.

Super simple and now my poor frame isn't empty anymore.  I even made two of them.

Anybody want the other one?  Just leave me a comment and I will randomly select someone on Monday, April 25.
