Updated Throw Pillows
When we bought our two couches several years ago for our family room, they came with some throw pillows. I always thought they were ugly - don't you agree?
One side was the ugly side and the other wasn't so bad with the olive green microfiber - the same as our couches.
Well I've been talking about changing them up for quite some time, but haven't done anything about it. I wanted to add some more color to our family room too since I have a lot of cream, black, and green. So when I finished my spring mantel and added a touch of blue, I thought it would be fun to bring in some more blues and lime greens.
A few weeks ago I was at JoAnn's and came across this material.
As well as this one.
I bought a yard of each and decided to make some two sided pillows, using my ugly throw pillows as the "stuffing". Can you believe it???? I finally busted out my sewing machine and decided to get to work on them over the weekend.
I must tell you I am not a seamstress by any means - not even remotely close. I do, however, like to get out my sewing machine at least once a year though just to make sure it still works.
An hour and a half later, I was done with all four pillows. One side looks like this.
And the other side looks like this.
I just love how they turned out and the color it adds to the room. I can have them all green or switch it around for some blue.
So I think this is only the second time in my life I made pillows, so if I can do it, anyone can. I bought some other material to make some other fun pillows. But at my rate, it may not be until next year, ya know since I love to sew so much.

ReplyDeleteAt first my brain mixed up the words and I read...."throw up pillows!" LOL
ReplyDeleteThey are so pretty!! I'm working up the nerve to do slipcovers for my couch and chairs so that I can make pretty pillows like that to match! :)
I'm going to have to go to JoAnn's to see if they have that fabric by me. I just love the color combo. Thanks for sharing at my Swing into Spring party.
ReplyDeleteThey look great. It was fun shopping for the fabric.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! They are such an improvement over the previous fabric on the pillows!
