Personalized Wood Block
Amongst all the holiday celebrations this year, we had a couple wedding showers. I was debating what I should do for a gift. I have seen people make cute personalized crafts with letters that can be downloaded from the Internet. But this particular name was a little too long for a picture frame, so I had to get creative. I decided to make a personalized wood block.
I picked up a 2x4 at Home Depot and had it cut into four pieces 19 inches long.
I painted the wood a light brown color, sanded the edges and added a little stain as well.
I found some free letters on the Internet and had them printed in sepia, wallet size at Costco. Four wallets to a sheet for $.39, thus the four boards. I think black and white photos would be fun too and then just paint the boards black.
I added the letters to the wood with some Mod Podge and then added another coat to seal them in. A simple, personalized shower gift for the happy couple and very inexpensive to boot. I think I may have to do something similar next year for Christmas or birthday gifts.
Since this is a family name on my husband's side, I decided to give the others away to his side of the family.

Kathy, I love this! Did you just download it to Costco's photo site?

ReplyDeleteThis is pretty cool, might look good with some darker wood too?
