Harvest Time
Remember this stack of wood I got from Home Depot for super cheap.

Well I finally got around to using that largest piece of wood on the bottom. I decided to paint it a cream color but put the paint on kind of "rough" since I wanted some of the dark wood to show through.

After I got it painted, I sanded down the edges a bit.

I ordered some vinyl from Jill over at utahvinyl.com. I added my HARVEST vinyl first.

I had her make an "inlay" as well to put on top of my "harvest" that says "Let us give thanks." I added that next.

Then I got out my trusty can of stain, which my mom bought years ago for me.

I added some to the whole thing and then wiped it off with a paper towel. See how the edges are dark now.

Now it's already to be displayed for Thanksgiving. I'll wait until November to put this up but I just loved how it turned out. Here's a picture with the flash:

And another without, but you get the idea.

I got that cute crow in Virginia one year while visiting my parents. They were so cute, I bought two.
It's never too early to get some Thanksgiving projects done right?

I love that! I need to pull out my fall decor and see what I have. I might have to make one of those. What size is your wood?
ReplyDeleteGoodness! This is adorable!! I LOVE it! I need one of these! :)
ReplyDeleteThe wood is 17.5 inches long and 5.5 inches wide. If you want to order the vinyl for this project, there is a link to Jill's website and you can just send her an email.
ReplyDeleteSo simple and so cute! Thanks for sharing ... I've posted a link.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I want to make one, too!
ReplyDeleteLet us give thanks to you! I like this idea and just might have to try it.
ReplyDeletecame across this post again - and I'm loving your sign even more!
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if I could make something like this for my craft group? May I have your permission to do something similar? :)
