A New Light and A Winner

I have been wanting to change up my back porch a little. It hasn't really changed since we moved in, oh 10 years ago. It just needed a few decorative touches.  This picture shows more of the deck than the porch, but I couldn't find a good porch picture.  I took this one in March, but notice the light mostly (well if you can see it).  Nothing fancy.

Since my mom was in town, the morning of the day she flew out (nothing like cramming in as many projects as possible the last few hours she's in town), she helped me with part of the update and installed a new patio light for me.

I picked it up at Home Depot the night before she installed it.  Much better now - it's bigger and gives off actual light compared to the other that was more like a night light.  It's a small step, but I'll get there little by little.

Now on to the winner of the Fall Charger.

And the winner according to Random.org is . . . #1.

You are so fun with all your crafts! :)

How random is that? Not very often is #1 chosen. Congrats Nikki!!! You'll be getting a package from me soon.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I'll be busting out my Halloween decor - we'll see how much I actually get done.  I need to get some yard work done too before the rain sets in next week.

A Little Autumn and a Winner

Remember my leaf specimen art I made a couple weeks ago.

I had to punch out all those leafs. I thought I would use the left over paper for another project. I had a frame in my kitchen that needed to be updated for fall. So I had a transfer, scrapbook paper and the negative of the leaves I punched out.

I put it all together and came up with this.

Simple, but just perfect for autumn.  I put it up on my cupboard for now.

Okay, so now on to the winner of the Bead Board Pumpkin.

And the lucky winner is . . . according to Random.org. . . #19

I really like your color choices. Plus the bead board really ads dimension to the pumpkin.

Congrats Tiff - I'll be sending you an email. Thanks for all those that left a comment. Tomorrow I'll be giving away my fall charger. So leave a comment if you haven't already for a chance to win.

Leaf Balls

Well I had a brilliant idea to make some leaf balls. I picked up some fall foliage at Michaels, a couple styrofoam balls from Dollar Tree and used some push pins I had on hand.

I pulled the leaves off the branch and just randomly starting pinning them to the ball.

When I got done - I wasn't sure if this was such a brilliant idea or not. I wasn't totally excited with how they turned out - they were just okay.

But then I decided to put them on my kitchen cupboards and from a distance they looked great. Loved the falls colors and the space they filled.

It's okay if you don't like them either - I was a little mixed on the outcome. But I love them now sitting pretty up there.

Okay, so don't forget to leave me a comment on this post if you want to win the bead board pumpkin and this post if you want to win the fall charger. I'll be picking winners tomorrow and Friday.

Watch for Falling Leaves

I found these cute Better Homes and Garden chargers at Walmart this year for $3.00.

I thought it would be fun to add some vinyl, so I ordered a saying from Utah Vinyl that was $4.00.  I made a similar one last year if you want to check it out here.

Then I added it to my charger.  So for $7.00, I just love how it turned out.

I decided to put it on my end table in my family room.  So perfect for fall.

If you want to check out how I made those scrap wood pumpkins - check out this post

So as part of my continued birthday celebration, I made another one for one of you.  Just follow along and leave me a comment.  I will pick a winner next Friday, September 30.  (Because of the size, I'll only ship within the U.S.)

Bead Board Pumpkin

I went to the Wood Connection the other day here in Salt Lake and saw the most adorable fall stuff.  I just had to make one of their bead board pumpkins.  I picked up the kit and put it together that same day.

The bead board was actually separate.

I painted the bead board Heritage Brick.

Gave it a good sanding.

Then I painted the pumpkin stem Mississippi Mud.

And the rest of the pumpkin Burnt Orange.

I sanded the edges of the pumpkin and then attached the bead board with some liquid nails.  I also added a little raffia and ribbon and was done.

Now it's ready for display.

Now since Saturday is my birthday I thought it would be fun to make another one and give it away to one of you lucky people.

Since this pumpkin is pretty tall - about 12 inches and a little chunky -  I will only ship within the U.S.   So if you want it, just follow along, or if you already do, just let me know and leave me a comment.  I will pick a winner next Thursday, Sept 29.

Leaf Specimen Art

I wanted to change up my specimen art for fall.  I had some punches I used to cut out squares, circles and some leaves.

Mounted them on some cardstock.

Then framed it - ready to display.

If you want to check out any of my other specimen art projects check out this post, or this one, or this one.

Fall Frame Update

Well with the Fall season shortly upon us, next Friday is the official first day of Autumn, I figured I should change up my Dollar Tree frame with something a little more fallish.

It looked like this all summer.

So I went through my scrapbook supplies and came up with these supplies.

I used some double sided tape to put it all together and was done - quick and easy.

Now it's ready to hang.  Happy Fall!
